Start an Excel application with WinCC 6.0

elio_fae Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	Hi, I need to open an existing Excel file and run a particular macro. This Excel file share variables with my application in DDE format, and the macro will copy the DDE cells in another position, creating a similar report. This sequence must be started by reading the state of a appropriete digital variable in PLC. How can I do this? Thanks everybody. elio_fae

elio_fae Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	Thanks Nemo, I just used the example to create the DDE connection, and it works. My problem is different. I have createdthe Excel file using the DDE connection from the example. This Excel file contains a macro that "shift" down of nrows the DDE cells. I have to launch the Excel file and the macro only when, from PLC, a tag changes from 0 to 1 (i.e. from a pushbutton, or every hour). Someone suggested me to create a VBS script (Project module) to call the Excel fileand run the macro, but I need to know how I can"link" the script with a PLC variable. Some suggestions? Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi, you can start Excel via programexecute http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22560470 I am quite sure, that an Excel-macro can be e.g. called via a DOS-box => so please check the Excel online help for the corresponding parameters of such a DOS-call. You can use this parameter within programexecute-function as well. nemo

Actions can be assigned triggers to have them run when a tag changes value or on a cyclic basis. You Global Action would then call your Project Function to run Excel and your macro [:)]
