The execution time of each cyclic interrupt OB must be noticeably smaller than its time base. If a cyclic interrupt OB has not been completely executed but execution is again pending because the cycle clock has expired, the time error OB80 is started. The cyclic interrupt that caused the error is executed later or discarded.

If OB 80 has not been programmed, the CPU switches to the STOP operating state.

If OB 80 is projected and is called twice in the same cycle due to the cycle timeout, the CPU switches to STOP. You can prevent this by calling the "RE_TRIGR" instruction at a suitable point.

In real-time systems defined response time is required. If this can't be achieved on current hardware, it's time to optimize the software or to change the hardware and not to apply RE_TRIGR.

Places where overruns of runtime can occur are loops.
