rofon Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	I have problem with page update delay time. when there are not many opc items added into opc connection the single line diagram pages are updated fast enough ( < 1sec ) but the more opc items added into opc connection database (> 1500 tags) the more slow page are updated. delay time alaways occured when opening a new page. And after page is opening and wait several seconds and the everything updated normally,i notice this like timeout. Specification of Hw & Sw as follow: CPU Hardware: HP Poliant ML 150 Ram 1 GB CPU Intel Xeon 3 GHz HT Harddisk 35 GB Software: WinCC version 6.0 + SP4 License RT + Configuration 8192 points My questions: - Is there any limitation of external opc tags in wincc? - How can i change update rate on opcgroup in wincc. - Is there any specific setting in creating opc connection. - Any idea how to get a Alarm message text in GMsgFunction. Please advise on this problem.

Not really. I usually right-click on the OPC Group folder, select System Parameter and then browse the OPC Server to automatically create the WinCC tags. This works well for me. A few things to note: - Sometimes lowering the poll rate can speed up the performance ! - Avoid cyclic scripts; always have them use tag triggers - In the WinCC manual there is a Performance Data section that gives a detailed breakdown on tested limits for WinCC. - Is your PDL using IOFields or Dynamic Dialogs / Scripts? The former uses Tag Links which are usually fine but the latter uses triggers which can be troublesome if not configured correctly. Jamer Posts: 36 Rating: (3)	Hi I have a WinCC project with more than 14000 tags on external OPC, and works good. At the beginning I had some response (Speed) problems with OPC tags, but realized that the problem was the OPC driver I had. After changing OPC driver I didn't had more update problems.

The supplier of the third party opc server needed to make some adjustments to suit our performance, but now it's working great. Wincc can meet performance, have a look at the way you have set up your pdl's and the opc driver/server you are using. with regards, Ikkezelf

Hi Salma, My dynamic objects is circuit breaker and disconnector. After changed from cyclic into tag triggers, update dynamic objects delay could reduce from +/- 20 sec to 3 seconds. But this should be unacceptable, what i want is when opening a page all dynamic objects is directly in realtime conditions not wait several seconds until going into realtime mode. Is there any way that i could open all picture windows but hide them running in background and appear until the page is called. Using Visible property is not working and Foreground property is read only, but how to use Layer property in C-Script? And my other questions, did you know why using IO Field object there is no delay in displaying realtime values but using other dynamic object script shows contrary.

Thanks Ikke & Jamer, I have simulated opc connection and you are right, wincc opc client is working great and updated well using IO Field object. So my problem only in using dynamic page.

You could then bring each picture window to the foreground when it needs to be visible. Regarding the IOFields vs Dynamic Dialog question ... your IOFields are simply polling a tag and displaying the value on the screen. The Dynamic Dialogs are having to run a small script. WinCC will run all these Dynamic Dialogs on one thread which means that they all run sequentially which is why you are seeing a delay. The tag trigger speeds this up however please remember that there will ALWAYS be a delay, however small, due to the overhead of running the scripts. I hope this answers your questions and that you have, or will soon have, WinCC running as expected. Good luck!

Hi Salma, I didn't know how to bring the picture window goes on top or hide on background because as far as i know Forground attribute is readonly and also Layer attribute. I'm already try using vbscript but what i can do just to read the ontop attribute and couldn't change it.
