Hello, I have a big problem with an HMI MTP1000 Basic Comfort Panel. Yesterday I tried to update the panel remotely from TIA, but the update got stuck at 50%. I had to disconnect the power from the screen, and now it’s stuck in “Maintenance Mode.”

I would like to update the screen using a USB stick instead. I already tried to establish a connection with ProSave v20, but it shows an error during the initialization of the connection.

Is there any way to avoid using ProSave and perform the OS update directly from a USB stick?

Yes, a Basic Panel 2nd Gen can also be reset to factory settings via USB.

No, the WinCC Unified Basic Panel does not allow you to transfer the operating system to a USB drive in maintenance mode. For this, you must use ProSave. Setting up the PG/PC interface correctly is a very important step.

Did you find a solution for this ?  I have exactly the same issue with MTP2200 unified.

Firmware update failure over remote network, (20.0.0.0 to 20.0.0.4) panel now says ‘Waiting for connection…’

Tried Proneta `Reset to Factory' option says Cpu response `In operation SET not possible'

so unable to change X2 IP address.

Prosave Device status says `make sure the Device is in maintenance mode' while the Screen still shows Waiting for connection.

Manged to update the Bootloader OK to V09.02  from V09.01 but the Panel reboots to same waiting for connection screen.

What is the solution to force reset the Maintenance mode ?

The manual contains all the information needed to perform a factory reset. If this does not resolve the issue, however, it will be difficult to provide further assistance.

However, here are some additional notes:

• In the 'Maintenance Mode' dialogue box, can you see an IP address for an interface that you are not connected to? If so, make sure you use an IP address from a different subnet. The device will reject any conflicting addresses.
• Ensure that your PC is connected directly to the panel. This means that there should be no additional switches or network devices between them.

Hi Stefan,

- Ethernet cable (tested on other nw before & after) , connected direct Laptop to Panel only.

- Both IP's were 0.0.0.0 and using X2 port as described.

I found I could actually change X1 IP (as shown) and with TIA Go Online but nothing else and when trying Factory Reset from tia Online Diagnostics , the X1 IP reverts to 0.0.0.0 but the `Waiting for connection..' dialog stayed as it was.

I see that without being able to interrupt this Dialog I cannot enter Maintenance mode with the B1 button as described.

The image you provided shows that the device is in maintenance mode. This is good, as it means you can begin loading the image. The following are recommended steps to avoid potential problems:

1. Start without plugging in the network cable.
2. Configure the network interface on your computer that you will use to transfer the image to have a fixed IP address. For example, use the IP address 192.168.178.1 and the subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
3. Start the "Security Controller" that was installed on your system with TIA Portal. Then, click the "Repeat Settings" button to activate all the necessary security settings.
4. Restart your computer and then log in again with the same username that you used before.
5. Connect your PC interface to the X2 interface on the panel.
6. Follow the instructions in the manual to set up the PG/PC interface.
7. Follow the reset procedure described, starting with step 6.
   • When prompted to enter the IP address in step 7, ensure that it matches the configured subnet. If you are using the example address described earlier, enter 192.168.178.2.
   • After clicking the "Device status" button in step 8, your panel should display the configured IP address for the X2 interface. If this does not happen, it indicates that your current setup is unable to provide the panel with an IP address. Because this is mandatory, the process can be canceled in this case.

If an error occurs, testing the procedure with a working panel (if available) might be helpful. It cannot be ruled out entirely that your device cannot be reset via Ethernet. If another panel successfully resets, it would indicate an error. In that case, your panel needs to be repaired.

Thanks for the continued support, I almost gave up but I've manage to solve it now. (See image)

I followed your instructions again- even though I have done all these steps before, the problem was the PG/PC interface setting.

I am using VMware so my virtualised NIC port happens to be #2 in this case :)

It had to be set on `Auto2' and Ok'd even though it says <active> was not good enough. I had to actually set the Auto 2 connection instead of Auto 1 then Prosave Detected the panel as ok to Transfer.

Now I can set the panel back up as normal.  Thanks !
