Alarm Control - multiple messages?

ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	Greetings. I have figured out how to trigger messages from events (discussed in another thread) but now I have a different problem. Is it possible to configure certain messages to suppress the normal "Message In / Message Out / Message Acknowledged" trio in the Alarm Archive List? Whenever I trigger an 'Event' message, the system acknowledges the 'previous' Event, logs the message coming in, and logs the message going out again. I only really need one message, preferrably the 'In' or the 'Out'.

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	You can disable the acknowledge status in the alarm class properties. From what I understand of the alarm system, an alarm must always be seen to return to normal before it can be triggered again. However you can easily filter your alarm display using the Selection button to only display alarms of one state - came in or went out. If this doesn't suit your needs then maybe there is something in the ODK as Nemo suggests. Regards, Salma

ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	OK, I assigned 'Events' a class of their own, turned off the 'Acknowledgement' checkboxes, and ticked 'Messages Without Status "Went Out" '. Events now don't appear in the main Alarm window (which I can accept), don't generate 'Acknowledged' entries in the Archive lists (which is cool) and don't generate 'Went Out' messages either! I call that an OK-WIN-WIN scenario [:D] Thanks Salma

ranr_mids Posts: 289 Rating: (19)	Greetings. I have discovered a 'snag' in my solution to my message problems. Currently, the script I use 'delays' the triggering of the Event Message to allow the data tags included in it to finish writing. This works OK for the most part. My problem is, one or two screens have the possibility to generate hundreds (if not thousands) of messages at the push of a button. (This is a requirement of the Customer, not a coding problem). My 'delay' solution could mean that the script on those pages could take several minutes to run through. Can scripts or functions run in the background, or is there a way to force a WinCC scriptto write a value to a tag and confirm the write before moving on?
