I have a program that looks at the alarm priority of a point to turn on a light.

IF(ALMPRI("TE.E.GCRE3-2.DP.PDT-001") .EQ. 1) THEN $LOC1 = $LOC1 + 1

My concern is that when I place the point "TE.E.GCRE3-2.DP.PDT-001" Out of Service/Disable during maintenance and the value goes out of range the light will turn on. This tells me the point will report a priority 1 alarm while "Out of Service/Disable". Can anyone confirm this, or does anyone have documentation that explains the "Out of Service/Disable" or "Disable Alarm Printing" features?

My next question is, Why doesn't the points trending indicate an A1 condition?

 What do you mean by device?

If I put a point "Out of Service/Disable" will it still an alarm?

 My question is that when you are placing the point in Out of Service/Disable whether the point was normal or it was in Alarm and then you just disable Alarm Printing?

The point was normal when placed Out of Service/Disabled.

We are trying to set a procedure for the calibration team that will allow them to work on a device and not trigger the alarm or cause my PPCL to turn a PRI 1 alarm light on.

Normal sequence is:

1. Place point normal point "Out of Service/Disabled".

2. Calibration team starts their process.

3. The point goes failed then returns from failure.

4. The PPCL noted above turns the PRI 1 light on.

5. Place point back in service.

The trending and alarm history never show the point going into a PRI 1 alarm, but my light still turns on.
