Another concern is the processor type when they compile their software. The type results as the Kind of Application (ie. Intel, Apple silicon, or Universal binary). For those not familiar with the application type, it tells the macOS for what processor the application is ready to run. For Intel type applications, when installed on Apple silicon Macs (M1, M2, etc), macOS will run them using Rosetta (while it is still supported). Of course, on Intel Macs, macOS will run them as is. For Universal types, they contain both types of code, so they are ready to run on any Macs. For Apple silicon type applications, there is no option to run them on Intel Macs. Back to my concern. The latest macOS Tahoe 26 is the last one to support Intel processors, including the software layer Rosetta for Apple silicon Macs. Since LSC is currently compiled as Intel type, I assume it should runs on Tahoe (not verified), but will definitely not run on the next major macOS. My added point. Any LSC upgrades or DVD releases should be in Universal binary type, so they will continue to run with the future macOS updates, and also run for those that still have older Intel Macs. |
