Dear,

how to change webserver pages without stoping modules during download?

I changed html files, and then I deleted generated DB333,334 blocks. Next I generate new blocks, when I want to download new ones the "stop modules" option is required. The "stop modules" is required becouse DB333 have to be reinitialized. I was trying make DB333 memory optimise access, to be able to active option "download without reinitialization" but with none effects.

Is it possible to download new user webserver html files without stoping CPU?

In the s7-1200/1500 Programming Guidelines manual, it describes how PLC stay running without reinitializing a block.  See below.

If you press F1 (TIA Portal) help, and search for "Downloading blocks in the "RUN" operating state to the device", you can find out what is and is not allowed for your controller to stay in RUN mode.  This is not negotiable.  You can contact Siemens support for a future feature request if it does not meet your needs.

Execute the following steps whilst the controller is in RUN mode.

1. Enable “Downloading without reinitialization”

2. Insert new defined tags in existing block

3. Load block into controller

Advantages

  Reloading of new defined tags without interrupting the running process. The

  controller stays in “RUN” mode.

Properties

  Downloading without reinitialization is only possible for optimized blocks.

  New defined tags will be initialized. The remaining tags keep their current

  values.

  A block with reserve requires more memory space in the controller.

  The memory reserve depends on the work memory of the controller; however it

  is max. 2 MB.

  It is assumed that a memory reserve has been defined for block.

  By default the memory reserve is set to 100 byte.

  The memory reserve is defined individually for every block.

  The blocks can be variably expanded."

 TIA v16 has some improvements on this matter.

I just installed TIA v16 and I see news related to web api. You can modify the front-end and test it on the pc instead of generate blocks every time you make an edit. But you still have to stop PLC when you deploy your html/js to PLC. Correct or I'm wrong?

Correct, best way is to develop your front-end on your PC and only deploy a final version to the controller in order to reduce the number of CPU stops.

What you also can do is buy a SIM Advanced license. That enables you to simulate the web server of the CPU on your PC. The simulated PLC will go into stop as well during an update of the www DB, but you probably don't care so much.

I accidentally stumbled upon a workaround.

It seems that a stop is not necessary for the first download, and also not for removing the web server entirely.  So the procedure to make a change without STOP would be:

1. Delete blocks.
2. Delete call to WWW.
3. Download.
4. Generate blocks.
5. Put back call to WWW.
6. Download.

It's a bit more cumbersome, and I can't say if this works for all kinds of projects, but it worked for mine. This is with a S7-1500 PLC and TIA 16.
