Is it possible to avoid a full download to AS?

AEnes Posts: 76 Rating: (0)	Hello, I dont know what happened but today after doing an archive of my pcs7 project, I noticed that my OS server had dissapeared from the project and obiously all the SCADA with him. I retrieved an archive from yesterday and everything is ok, but... two of my plc´s request a full download (I can´t donwload only online changes). I would like to know if it is possible to avoid this full download, for example what happens if I take the blocks that are different and I paste them on the offline project???? mmm...I doesn´t seem a good idea. Anybody knows what can I do, I dont mind if I lost any offline modifications, the correct version is online in the Plc. I would like to add that I am using H Cpu´s, then Could be posible to download first to one Cpu and then to the other??? Thanks in advance

MichS Posts: 91 Rating: (6)	Do you stillhave the old project before retrieving the archive? Then it is possible to extract the two cpu`s wich containthe last loaded program. Otherwise I don`t know any solution to avoid the full download

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi AEns, The only way to avoid the full download (as pointed out by MichS)is to continue working with the"old" (existing) project.Can you explain in more detailabout "OS disappearing" incident?Make a backup of the "defective" project and try to save-as with reorganization (slow) and see if that helps. Copying/recreating the OS may be a better option than a complete download of the AS's. Regards

AEnes Posts: 76 Rating: (0)	Hi guys, Unfortunatly I dont have a backup of the code that it is now in the Plc. What happened was: 1º I made a backup of the project as every morning 2º I created two more pumps and I donwloaded it to the PLC. 3º I noticed that the OS Server has dissapeared. I mean, in the component view tree SVR1->WinCC Application -> Server. The object OS Server had dissapeared and obiously my SCADA was gone. I think the only way to romeve this is to right-click on the OS and select "Delete". But I didn´t do that, even the last action I did the day before was to download that OS project to the servers. 4º I retrieved the previous day archive and the OS was OK, however the system started to request a full download of the AS. Probably the mistake was no to do an archive of the wrong project before retrieving the old, then I lost a version with those two new pumps¡¡¡¡¡¡ I hope that having the H system would help me to avoid the full download, however when I try to download to RACK 0 individually, I get a message that says that the H system is in redundant mode then the whole H system will be stopped.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi AEns, From your description since the original project is lost and there is no backup after the last change the only way forward is to perform a full download...I wish there was a utility in PCS7 that could upload from CPU, but this may not be possible because of the way the program is stored in the CPU and thein the project. In native STEP7 an upload is possible. Anyway, I still did not understand how the OS disappeared!Sometimes because of a problem with the installation (SQL) the WinCC OS cannot be seen in the Simatic Manager but actual project is still there in the folders (visible in Windows Explorer). AEnes Posts: 76 Rating: (0)	Thanks Phantom for your answer, I have contacted Siemens PCS7 technical support and they have confirmed that it is not possible to avoid the full download because the time stamp of the offline program is earlier than the one in the CPU. Anyway I have been told that in two weeks I am going to have the chance to perform a full download of the CPU. Regarding how the OS dissapeared, I have no idea. The last thing I did the day before was to download the project to the OS and nothing else. And as I am the only one that has access to that computer and of course I did not delete the OS. I dont know what happened. Anyway if it happens next time I will do a backup before retrieving an ols project. Bye Bye

JohanV Posts: 16 Rating: (1)	Aenes We have had the problem where all the os server disapperred form the project. We corrected the fault by archiving the project. creating a new directory and retrieving it to that directory. then all was OK. We then as i test created a directory with the same name as the old and retrieved the project into that directory, and the os servers where missing agsain Something to keep in mind
