innovations Experienced Member Joined: 5/21/2008 Last visit: 11/11/2024 Posts: 91 Rating: (0)	dear sir, i am using basic positioner in SINAMICS & my problem is of sometime tripping of the drive on "following errror too high" . if i take the trace of set & actual value of position , both the trace does not coincide with each other,if i check on any particular time on trace there is always approximate 1800-2500 LU difference. ( monitoring of following error is 2000 by default in the drive) i tried position controller gain & speed control gain but succeded with only little difference. my concern is whether set & actual position should superimpose on each other? what is the cause of this problem? if i can increase the monitoring window to say 3000 LU ? All suggestions are welcome. B/R, sehgal

Gary.Hare Posts: 101 Rating: (8)	It all depends on your axis cycle length. What is 2000LU? If in your system 2000LU =a big distancethen you have a problem. But if 2000LU is a few microns then you will need to open up the window. You need to think what is an acceptable error for your system in LU. If this distance is not acceptable then trace currents, torque, speed deviation. You may be on the mechanical limit and need to decrease the dynamics.

This(following error tripping) happens even at no load. By what means the set point & actual value of position be exactly superimposed on each other on trace? B/R, sehgal

Gary.Hare Posts: 101 Rating: (8)	Every axis has some error in it. You just have to decide how much is too much. Bear in mind that you can achieve a resolution of10485768per revolution in a top line encoder. (not to be confused with pulses). If this was your case then your error would be less that one degree of error!! Not much at all so the window would have to be opened. How much error in LU depends on every application, gearbox ratios, ball screw backlash etc etc etc. Your axis cycle length should be fixed not a from to value. How many length units is the full travel of the axis and how far apart are the increments? or is it a modulo axis? (rotary) What is 1 LU? 0.000000000001mm or 1M?
