Pump Low-Power Shut-Off

Joshua S Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Good morning everyone. I need to shut off a mag-pump when it is running dry. I was looking through some of the parameters to try and come up with the best solution. One would be to measure the current like a load controller would do and the other would be to use P2181, the load torque monitoring. If I use P2181 which seems like the better solution, how do I set up the parameters for it to work. Any help is greatly appreciated. By the way, I dont want to use load controllers, I want to use the drives capabilities. I hate the fact that we are using load controllers and I am slowly trying to get away from them.

It will set a bit 53.3 when actual current increase threshold set by you. You may need proper control logic. I think you need use of timers too.. Give exact details for more help.. Regards, Devesh

To shut off the pump (I assume simple on/off control) you can use free function blocks to monitor the torque /torque curent.

Joshua S Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	When pumps run dry they draw less current similar to a belt on a fan breaking. Using the "load missing" parameter like the Load Torque Monitoring as you would use to tell if a belt broke off of a fan would be ideal. The problem is that I do not know how to set that parameter up (load torque monitoring) and would it just be easier to use a comparator with a timer to trigger a fault when the current gets low.
