Changing the tag associated with an object on a picture in a picture window!

We have single tag names, such as....

No use of the structure tag (prefix, postfix) method exists.

At the moment the model doesn't contain any script because the picture window data is fed from a tag prefix model for testing. Pushing a tag prefix into the picture window and displaying it when a pump is selected.

File attached is a screenshot of our display.

Currently the dynamic dialog does all the magic, making each component flash or respond based on the bool bit states. I would like to replace the tag fields in the dynamic dialog with the relative tag of each item selected.

This is easy in Rockwell FactoryTalk since you just call a Parameter File and the relative display knows what to put where. Just trying to make it work in WinCC.

Here comes a possible way of solving this Issue: indirect tag addressing. This solution has unfortunately some limitations, here they come:

- There must be only one instance of the faceplate opened at a time (no multiple instances)
- I could not find a way of making it work with dynamic dialog, so that you'll have to use C scripts. A exemple of how to change the background color of Running circle is provided.

Let's do it now. Follow these steps:

1 - Create several internal tags to store the addresses of the current variable wich will be on your faceplate. For this pump case they could be as follow:

pPump_Run
pPump_Auto
pPump_Fault
pPump_Speed
pPump_SpeedSp
pPump_Description

NOTE1: I have also created VSD00x_??? tags for tests purposes, as you can see in the attached file.

NOTE2: All these p???? tags will be typed as "Text tag, 8-bit font"

2 - In your faceplate all elements must point to these pointing tags. It's crucial that you mark the check box named "INDIRECT" in all dynamic elements connected to these tags in your faceplate.

3 - Adapt the script contained in the mouse click evet in object VDS001 object in Indirect.pdl screen to "mount" your tag names according to your project.

4 - Test it and have a nice Beer.
