Sinamics S120 first time use questions

elektrozdas Advanced Member Joined: 6/18/2007 Last visit: 7/3/2024 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hallo first i would like to apologize that my english is not very good I have few questions about Sinamics S120 1) I have two types of 24VDC supply - normal and backed up, backed up is for profibus cominication. My question is: When CU320 is in backed up 24VDC what will happen with my profibus comunication when another parts on DRIVE-CLiQ will be without power suply. 2) Powermodul (smartline, active line) and motormodules have connector X21, in catalog I find that it is used for safety and it must be connected to 24VDC with contact. My question is: What happen when contact will open only on singlemotor module, on powermodule and on one part of doublemotor module? Is it same like ENABLE on another inverters - when enable is lost it stops only motor on which it is lost? Thanks for answers

In that scenerio I am 99% sure that you will get drive faults but the Profibus communication on the CU320 (powered byyour back up supply) will stay active. Also look at the Control Supply Module for booksize as it can power the 24V supply from the 3-phase 400V supply or the 600V DC link. It will not keep the Profibus communication port on the CU320 active for as long as a backup 24V supply but usually long enough to shut equipment down. 2. The X21 EP functions differently on a Line Module or Motor Module. The X21 EP on the Motor Modules is used as one of the Safety Integrated channels and must be enabled to be active. On the line modules such as SLM youmust supply 24V tothis input as the default state is active. If you are designing the Safety Integrated function Safe Off using the X21 on Motor Modules you will need to use a second channel on the CU320 binary inputs. In many cases you will setaxisup in zones so that one part of the machine can be in a Safe Off condition while the remaining zones are allowed to run. You can have different zones on one CU320 if you like but each axis must have two channels as part of the Safety Integrated approach. This is why a double motor module has two X21 terminals, one for each axis.

I need to block only one inverter when something will happen but other must run - is it possible to use this function (NC contact on EP which open) or i have to use safety functions on CU320?

Drives_Coach Posts: 133 Rating: (13)	From the default state the EP input on the booksize motor modulesare not active. You could enable Safe Off on just one axis in which case you wireone contact back to the Motor module EP and one channel back to the CU320. The other axiswould be uneffected. If you do not need Safe Off you could just use a normal Stop command to the axis. In this case you would just wire one contact to the CU320 binary input and BICO to the control word of the axis.

And if you don't want anything setup for Safety just don't wire anything into the terminals on Power unit, that is the EP24V+ and EPM.

In one are same informations that you gived me - when not using safety dont wire EP. But in another they mentioned when EP is not wired it will not working anytime. What is realy right? Have anybody real experiences? I have prepared conections but i would like to know what is right. Thank you

Drives_Coach Posts: 133 Rating: (13)	It's important that we specify this reguading Line Modules or Motor Modules for SINAMICS S120 multi-axis units. The LM converts 3 phase V to the DC link and requires terminal 3 and 4 on X21 to be used always or it will not operate. The purpose here is if we are going to open up the main switch we want to disable pulses to the LM so the switch does not open under an inductive load. The MoMo inverts the DC link voltage into a 3 phase PWM signal to the motor. The X21 terminals 3 and 4 on Motor Modules are used for the Safe Off circuit and are only operational when this function is enabled via parameters. Generally when Safe Off is used the MoMo pulses are disabled through X21 but the DC link voltage and LM are still active. This is the brillance of Safety Integrated. I hope this helps clarifythis for you related to booksize multi-axis S120

Perro2008 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I wants an example of safety connection using 3TK28 according to EN 954-1 cat. 4. I assume that EP (+24 M from X21) is require. But connect between Active Interfase Module - Active Line Module and Mot. Mod. Thanks for any kind of help
