Is it possible to have on the Access Point side different IP-Adresses as on the Client side? (Another Network) [:o] I want to built up a network with on the client side al the same IP-adresses so that i didn't have to change the IP-adresses in that projects, because the machines are all the same and i don't have to change the addresses in the project, i have then one project instead of 5. I read something about NAT / PAT in the manual but didn't understand that well.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Late, well, the question is acutally, do you want to communicate between the two Networks or do you just want to have a PG Access there? In cas you want to communicate I guess that this will become very hard. This is due to the fact that two IP Nodes can only communicate within one IP Network or in two different IP Networks if you have an IP Router inbetween. In case of the Router there is the definition of NAT or PAT better found. So the question is, do you want to connect the two Networks to get Connections to work? If so, would it be possibel to use ISO Transport Connections? Best regards J_Bell

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hi Late, there I see a little Problem. [:(] The thing is that I do not know that the SCALANCE W units support a NAT orPATRouter functionality, I think they do not. So the issue is that it will become very hard, if you use different Subnets within one Network. I would try, if possible, to use either one Network Subnet or you use Router units. There is something written about it in the Scalance W Client manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19386812(page 126 and further). This is only supported by the Scalance W746, W747 and the W788-1, W788-2. If I am right is what you want to do the following: 192.168.10.1== port 1000\| \| 192.168.20.3192.168.20.10 192.168.10.2== ========= ========= port 1001 \|\|Scalance\|\|Scalance \| \|===\| Client \| ))) (((\| AP \|=NETWORK \| \| \| \| \| 192.168.10.3== ========= ========= port 1002 \| \| 192.168.10.4== port 1003 And if I understand the manual correct then it's possible [:D] with the following settings: In the client it is possible tofill in the IP-addresses of the wired network devices and nodes on the client side. When you fill them in you have to couple an internal port to every IP-address. This port is necessary because if you want to reach the node from the "outside". So if you are connected on the NETWORK-side with a PC (192.168.20.5) in the abovecreated example and you want to reach one of the nodes on the wired-side of the client you have to use the following IP-address 192.168.20.3/1000 So I hope that my explanation is clear to you. [;)] This same technology is integrated in the Scalance W clients (W746, W747 and the W788 in client mode).
