TH300 cannot communicate suing Hart

Saiyuke79 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello there, I am having trouble to communicate TH300 temperature Transmitter by using Hart Field communicator. If there any steps that i miss out? I was trying to change the configuration of RTD to TC type K. Help!!

danw Gold Expert Joined: 3/28/2010 Last visit: 1/9/2026 Posts: 1209 Rating: (222)	1) The loop needs to be powered by a DC power supply 2) There needs to be at least 230 ohms of resistance (most people use a 250 ohm resistor) in the loop in order to 'develop' a HART signal. If connection to a HART transmitteris done on a test bench, with the transmitter connected directly to a power supply, with no receiver device's analog input (and its input shunt resistor) in the loop circuit, then the power suppy acts as a low pass filter andfilters out the HART signal. 3) I've discovered corrosion onthe inside of the copper lead hook on the spring-loaded HART lead clipson the Siemens/Viatek HART modem. It's just enough toprevent the HART signal's voltage frombeing seen by the HART modem. Clean the inside of the hook with something slightly abrasive (like steel wool) to clean it to bright copper so it makes a low resistance electrical connection to the loop circuit. 4) Do not connect the HART leads across the power supply connections
