It is confusing to abbreviate Modbus using the term Mbus or M-Bus because Modbus and M-Bus or MBus are two different protocols. The M-Bus (Meter Bus) protocol is not the same as the Modbus Protocol. M-Bus has its own unique 2-wire physical layer where the master modulates voltage to indicate Logic 0 and Logic 1, while the slave(s) modulate current. There are commercial media converter/gateways (PW60) to handle addressing M-Bus with other protocols. Given the differences in the physical layer between Modbus RTU and M-Bus, it is unlikely that without a converter/gateway, that Additional details can be found in the M-Bus spec here: |
