Which SCL version compiles to K05.03.06.00_01.03.00.01?

delafrique Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	Hello, I want to compare SCL source code to compiled code in my client's PLC. Before making changes to the SCL source, I need to make sure that it matches what is running on the PLC at the moment. The code in the PLC was compiled with SCLCOMP K05.03.06.00_01.03.00.01 on someone else's computer. I have triedtheseSCL versions: Step 7 V5.4+SP5 SCL V5.3+SP6 --> K05.03.07.00_01.02.00.01 Step 7 V5.5+SP1 SCL V5.3+SP6 --> K05.03.07.00_01.02.00.01 Step 7 V5.4+SP5 SCL V5.3+SP5 --> K05.03.05.00_01.03.00.01 Note that SCL V5.3+SP6 compiles to K05.03.07 ! The STL produced by K05.03.07 is quite different to that produced by K05.03.06 For short blocks the STL can be compared manually and found to be functionally equivalent (e.g. L 1; -Dversus L -1; +D = #x; L #x; next instr versus =#x; next instr. etc) For large blocks it ispractically impossible. Questions: - Which SCL version compiles to K05.03.06.00_01.03.00.01 ? - Where can I download an upgrade from SCL V5.3 SP5 to the above ? - Can SCL compile to older versions ? Don't think so but it would be very useful - Are there tools to compare compiled SCL code from different SCL versions ?

delafrique Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	UPDATE: Compling without debug info (SCL>Options>Customize>Compiler) produced STL code that was identical to that on the PLC. This solved my immediate problem.

The K05.03.06.00_01.03.00.01 relates to the SCL compiler version. You can see this by selecting Help->About then click the "Display" button. This will give you a list of the installed software and versions. You are looking for the S7-SCL entry. Now I do not know how Siemens handle their version numbers, but from what I can gather is seems to relate to the version number and service pack and hottfix numbers. For example:- SCL compiler V5.3 + SP5 (no hotfixes) gives a release number of K05.03.05.00_01.04.00.01 STEP7 V5.4 + SP5 + HF1 gives a release number of K5.4.5.1_4.1.0.1 So it seems that the KA.B.C.D number relates to A=Major version, B=Minor version, C=service pack number & D = hotfix number. What the _01.04.00.01 relates to I cannot fathom. Could be a date maybe, or possibly a reference number. So in your case, K05.03.06.00_01.03.00.01 would relate to SCL V5.3 SP6 No hotfix. >- Where can I download an upgrade from SCL V5.3 SP5 to the above ? The updates come as part of the service packs / hotfixes for PCS7 / STEP 7 / TIAPortal. Serching the service site for service packs will probably get you some links >- Can SCL compile to older versions ? Don't think so but it would be very useful Very unlikely. The SCL compiler will compile code according to its version. I very much doubt that there will be an option to compile in "legacy" mode. - Are there tools to compare compiled SCL code from different SCL versions ? There is a block comparison tool within STEP 7. Right click on the block and select compare blocks. The click the "Path1/Path2" button. I have never used it, but this might let you select 2 blocks from to different projects and compare them. Or you could copy the 2 blocks to be compared into the same project (obviously after renumbering one of them) and then do the block comparison in the same project. It seems that it will only tell that the blocks are different. I am not sure if it also shows you the SCL compiler version that created the block. I am sorry that I cannot be anymore help with this tool as I have not really played with it. But it might be of some use. Try it. A question of my own. Why are you so concerned about the different SCL compiler versions? OK the resultant STL code will be different, but if it works, what is the issue? You can be quite sure that if there were bugs in later versions the SCL compiler, Siemens would have fixed them by now.

delafrique Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	The concern with the versions is that I need to make sure that a project that was worked on by someone else matches what is in the PLC, before I make any changes to it. If I can not re-compile and create code that compares correctly with the PLC, there isno guarantee that the SCL source is up-to-date. In that case making a small change to the SCL code could have unforeseen consequences. It remains odd that SCL version 5.3 SP6 produces code with a comment: "compiled by SCL compiler version: SCLCOMP K05.03.07.00_01.02.00.01 release". (visible when the block is opened from LAD/STL/FBD editor.

Load your program from the CPU in the PG in a separate project with "PLC > Upload Station to PG...". If you have problems with your new compiled SCL program you can back to your copy.
