S7 315-2 DP comm problems with Open Modbus/TCP

pollo_rdz Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I have tried to communicate my PLC S7 315-2 DP as Client with Open Modbus to Delta V, I have followed the procedure to register the PLC with the Siemens license according to the manuals successfully, but still not getting communication Previously I have an HMI connected to a pasive read write TCP connections 01 and 02 and this is working correctly, and I created a third connection for the Modbus device, and the local port 202, I have a Vat table to monitor the parameters, and I can see that when I enable the ENQ_ENR and the WRITE_READ bits, I start getting error and the status I observe is W#16#8183, I used a Omni MBT Modbus Tester, but I was not able to receive or send,or even see the PLC, The Hardware I'm using is: PLC 315-2 DP 343-1 Ethernet card connected with port No1, IP address 10.168.129.115, connected to a Ethernet Switch HMI Proface 3500 series, Ethernet Connetion, IP address 10.168.129.18 The Modbus Server IP 10.168.129.104 with remorte port 502. , is there anybody who could give me some advice on how to trace ot troubleshoot the system. My questions should be, is there a proper order to create the communication connection?, should I need to install another independent 343-1 card in my system in order to have a different segment for Modbus connection or how should I define the hardware in order to get a Modbus Signal thru the Ethernet, BR Jorge

For the local port, I suggest to take a port above 2000, like 2002 (but it was may be a typing error in your request). You can only tell the exact meaning of the error code if you also look to the content of the parameter STAUTUS_FUNC that tells the name of the internal function that causes the problem. Let us assume that the it is the bloc AG_SEND that delivers an error code 8183, than it means: 8183 No configuration or the ISO/TCP service has not yet started on the Ethernet CP. In other words, it seems that the third connection is not loaded in the CP ... Or that the parameter ID of the Modbus block does not match with the ID in Netpro ... If you are sure the connection is loaded and the IDs are matching, try to take a trace with "wireshark" of the communication between both system. This will help you to see if the CP is sending a connection request, if it is accepted, if you really try to write soething, if the write is jected or not, ...

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Jorge, 8183 means, that the CP (passive connection partner) is waiting for the connection establishment from the active on. In the special diagnostic you can see a corresponding message, something like "passive connection establishment in progress, port 502". When the S7 acts a server you need a unspecified connection in NETPRO. You must not declare the remoteIP address and the port number. Regards, Kaulquappe

pollo_rdz Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	jklm As you mentioned, I will need to select another Port for the connection and test again, here I include some of the screens I see in my System, How can I make sure the ID matches the Netpro number and in the Modbus Block, Kaulquappe would this error mean that I configured my port incorrectly? Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Jorge, OmniMBT simulates a Modbus client. You parameterized the S7 as Modbus client as well. That won't work. One communication partner has to be the client and the other one the server. Regards, Kaulquappe

Then use a simulator which simulates the other part. There are simulators of both types (client and server) available on the net. Regards, Kaulquappe
