Reading 64 bit data in s7 1200 plc with modbus

ddmkksl Posts: 2 Rating: (1)	Hello, I communicated the energy analyzer with the modbus with the s7 1200 plc. I can read a maximum of 32 bits of data. There are addresses I need to read 64-bit, but I could not read 64-bit data. Data type ulong is determined. What data type do I need to read this in s7 1200 plc .

It can be maybe requirement to read 4 registers if one WORD as element is defined in query and as store place, do tests.

danw Gold Expert Joined: 3/28/2010 Last visit: 10/31/2024 Posts: 1074 Rating: (214)	This Siemens article, Tool Collection for Converting Data Types" does not include mention of 64 bit Long integers: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/25629271 This Siemens article, "Effects of rounding with 64-bit PLC data types in SIMATIC WinCC Basic/Advanced/Professional" mentions the S7-1200 supporting 64 bit LREAL (floating point) data type, but not LINT (Long Integer data type), although S7-1500 does support LINT. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109738561 The table of data types for S7-1200 notes that LINT or ULINT are S7-1500 data types, only. I suspect that the S7-1200 does not do what you need it to. Attachment S7-1200 does not support 64 bit ULINT integers.jpg (616 Downloads)

You can only read that values via Modbus as I sugested and pass further to Visualisation or other partner without problems as raw data.
