Arunakat1 Posts: 217 Rating: (52)	Dear all, Does any one know about locomotive product of siemes. I mean (control part) drives, controllers, PLCs, Ops, etc. For locomotive industry do we have special products of siemens A&D Any kind of literature or links of these will highly appreciate. Regards.

But human transportation is ahighly standardized world, with very restrictive norms and its own type of signaling (which is why you will find S7-400 modules with 125 VDC I/O, so they can be used in train signaling applications). Siemens has a separate division from A&D, Transportation, that produces specialized components and controls for its locomotives. Arunakat1 Posts: 217 Rating: (52)	Hello Daniel, Thanks for the link. It seems to be very interesting as you said. My problem is we have 10 no of ALSTOM engines. Unfortunately the OEM (ALSTOM) is not responding (no costumer support ) for breakdowns and services (8 out of 10 engines are not working), so our railway decided to change the control system of locomotives to a supportive agent. Is this is possible. (I mean changing the control system to siemes in ALSTOM engines) The engines we going to modify are 4000kW but in asiarunner I couldn’t fiend that capacity. Anyway thanks again for the information given. Best regards.

The only thing I can suggest is to use the "Inquiry" selection of the refurbishment page to ask Siemens Transportation how they would tackle this. I personnaly would not attempt to replace Alsthom controllers with standard PLCs of any make, I would have no idea about the type of standards, networks and programming issues required to control a locomotive with acceptablepassenger safety. Arunakat1 Posts: 217 Rating: (52)	Hello Daniel, Yes I agree with you. But our railway will not accept lying down few million dollars with out using. If we are not going to do this some body will do this for them. I’m concern about with getting help from siemens locomotive department and do this using siemens. Yesterday I got a chance to go a test run with a working engine. Also I got all the electrical and control diagrams.The network system is FIP (factory information protocol) Again many thanks for your suggestions and advises. Best regards
