Why has Siemens not looked into this and made it possible to upload HMI designs. I know its not difficult to do and it would cost Siemens market share in the long run. We have switched to Weintek HMIs in my company for this very reason. We just got a call from a plant with a damaged comfort panel. They have a similar panel but the PLC ip address is different. It would have been easy to just upload the design and change the PLC connection . Is there a way out?

Hello Oladimgba, Backups extracted with Prosave can only be uploaded to a panel with the same reference. If the panel has the same reference as the damaged one, there should be no problem loading it. I think this is because a compilation of the project is saved in the panel and not the project itself. |

I understand that it is the compiled file that is transferred. There used to be an option for back transfer which seems to no longer be available. My point is that if a cheap brand like Weintek and countless other have made it easy to upload entire HMI designs for editing, why has Siemens not done so too? I don't believe it is a technical issue and it has become a major pain for us in maintenance work. I love SIemens PLCs and use them for almost all our projects but the HMIs seem to have refused to catch up with their peers. I really hope Siemens does something about it
