I have a 6SL3224-0BE35-5UA0 VFD. 9 months ago. We had a storm , all 3 three-phase High speed fuses were blown out. The drive was inspected and I noticed that the SEMIX353GB126V1 IGBT had blown apart under the convertor drive board. The board was found to be damaged and unable to repair. I replaced the Convertor drive Board with a used fully tested board and had to remove our program or firmware chip from our old board to the recent purchased used board, this board had came with the 3 IGBTs as well, these IGBTs were tested and looked good. All the remaining IGBTs were replaced with NEW IGBTs. Also this problem resulted in ERROR/ fault code F00001 Over Current. I also replaced all 34 Capacitors on this VFD and the 6 diodes of the Rectifier assembly at bottom of cabinet and all the fans. After the repairs I verified the main parameters. like FLA, HP ,Line VOLTAGE ect were still the same. I measured various 3 PH voltage values and the DC value. This pump unit does operate fine in the bypass position, so the motor and motor cables appear to be good. Well after all of these repairs, I re-installed this drive on 5/10/2024. According to the trends on our SCADA system, the VFD operated at 84.2% speed for over 4 hours before automatically ramped up to 99.1 % before blowing out again. The same IGBT as before, and damage under the convertor board again. Also, the main CB at the MCC and CB was tripped at the cabinet and the 480VAC input 200A power fuses blew at Leg 1 & leg 2. What would allow this VFD to operate for 4hrs before blowing out again at almost 100% ramp up speed? Everything passed the megger test. I especially tested the 3 phase transformers in this cabinet. I verified all of the "P" parameters and they appear correct, but this is with the VFD pulled out and the controller only energized. Some of the "read only parameters" can not be verified until VFD is energized. I have ordered all Brand NEW IGBTs for a second rebuild. I replaced 3 diodes and and a damaged voltage regulator chip on the Convertor drive Board. For the record I finished rebuilding this exact type of 100hp VFD 6SL3224-0BE35-5UA0 without any issues last year. Except it did not have a damaged Convertor drive Board like this unit.
