I just got called to a customer to add a wireless remote system in parallel with the existing buttons inside a disgusting cab of a car crusher.

When I powered up the PLC, the DM8 'run' lights came on normally. The backlight of the Logo lit up but never did show anything. This thing is old and on a violent piece of machinery so I'm cautious with opening and pressing anything.

Is there an SD card I could swap to a new PLC or is there a button configuration I could press to cycle through screens to see if it works? I'm just afraid of it being on a menu system that I get out of run mode or change something.

I only want to be able to map the IO without having to toggle something way up in the cab and meter out a cycling input down below.

Is X50 the program port or SD port? I haven't opened it as its raining quite hard and its old.
There is also an X70 on the left side, I wasn't sure if that was for a powersupply connection.

I think there isn't typically an SD card slot for storing programs in these older PLCs like there might be in newer models. To navigate the display without risking program changes, try pressing the arrow buttons or the enter button on the front panel to cycle through possible screens.

X50 likely refers to a program port not an SD port and X70 could indeed be for power supply. If you're uncertain, consulting the manual might provide clarity, but make sure to do so safely, especially given the environment you're working in.

One possibility that LOGO program used empty message text function block (outputs just blank page to  screen). Use arrow down key once, when clock display appears, then with left and right buttons you can choose to view LOGO inputs and outputs status.

Btw, you can't change output status with cursor keys - this is controlled by program.
