Hi,

After installing Update 3 released for WinCC V8.1 (V8.1.0.3), the project will not activate anymore.

It is hanging on “Global Script Runtime - 33%” and the logs says that StartWinCCApplication(gscrt.exe) times out.

This does not happen on V8.1.0.0 or V8.1.0.2 that we have tested on the same system.

It happens on both the server and clients, and the resolution to the problem on the server is a complete reinstall of V8.1 and then Update 3. However on the clients we weren't successful unless we uninstalled WinCC, uninstalled all Visual C++ and SQL packages, and then installed V8.1 and Update 3 from scratch.

It has happened on two different WinCC systems, both running Windows Server 2022 and Windows 10 22H2.

Does anyone have any insights to this problem? I've tried creating a support case to Siemens, but haven't gotten any useful info yet, and I am curious if there is others with the same issue.

Yes, I converted the project data first.

This happened a couple weeks ago, so my memory is a bit vague, but I believe I tried to create a new project on the server and ended up with the same issue.
