Trying to use a filter on a monitored item from an opc server of S7-1500 plc will return with statusCode BadFilterNotAllowed, which should indicate, that filter and monitored Attribute do not match, but doing it on another server (from node-opcua), it works as expected.
I use a DataChangeFilter on a node of class variable on its value attribute with DataType Int16.
For the client node-opcua is used.

Can someone confirm/test if filter works on their PLC with OPC server enabled?

As seen in the OPC UA specification, “Bad_FilterNotAllowed  A monitoring filter cannot be used in combination with the attribute specified.”, this error is only, if it is not allowed in combination with the attribute which is not the case for my usage.
For monitoring items filter capability there is the fitting error: “Bad_MonitoredItemFilterUnsupported The Server does not support the requested monitored item filter.”

Or error “Bad_ServiceUnsupported The Server does not support the requested service.”.

So in my view BadFilterNotAllowed is wrong according to the OPC specification and i would call it a bug.

Also monitoring without a filter works with this plc.

It looks like there is something happening for OPC in newer versions, but i haven't found something mentioning monitoring with filters. It would be very usefull to let the opc server on the plc filter out unneeded notifications e.g. for temperature data that will fluctuate even if not in use(workaround to reduce notifications is to only activate it temporarily but not yet tested and also does not prevent sending too many notifications for very small changes while active).
