Is Logo enough for these tasks?

Bonk Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	I searched the forum for hours but I didn't find exact answer to all of my questions regarding Logo!. I'm about to build a home automation system and the Logo! seems to manage all the things I'm looking for. Please comment on these tasks, is it possible with Logo! and what extra accessories do I need to make it happen: 1) Multiple light group dimming - is this limited to total of 2 analog outputs per main unit (with add. AM module)? 2) Alternating program parameters from separate keyboard/panel? - I would need to change weekly timer values afterwards, is this possible with additional keypad, touchscreen or with Pc interface? 3) Light dimming with one pushed down button - I checked Analog Ramp function, how can I save the current value after releasing button or is there some other way to accomplish this? After reading hundreds of posts, it's seem the datalogging from Logo! to PC can be done, but how about he the input direction without original Logo keypad?

Fux Posts: 661 Rating: (123)	Hello Bonk, 1) yes, maximum 2 analog outputs 2) You cannot connect other panels, you have to use the onboard LCD or the external display LOGO! TD. But here it is possible to display the weekly timer settings and parametrize them. 3) I think you cannot keep a current level in analog ramp FB. Please see the attached program. Here a common pushbutton is used. Push 1x short -> Ligh ON 100% Push 1x short-> Light OFF 0% Keep pushbutton pressed >1,5 sec. starts dimming as long as you press the button. You said it's impossible to connect external panel to Logo, but what if I connect additional KNX/EIB bus extension module and then connected KNX panel to this setup? Could this be possible and what KNX stuff would I need? I'm looking for a stylish solution (not industrial look) to change Logo parameters (or select pre-set timers etc.). Something like Siemens Gamma touchpanel http://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/electrical-installation-technology/EN/products/gamma/Pages/gamma_electrical_installation_knx.aspx I also saw some solutions on logging data from Logo, is there any way to insert data back to logo via PC-link? Ideal solution would be with web browser. If this is too hard to achive, I think I will just stick with pre-setted buttons to manage my daily timings. Logo seems much more suitable for my other needs than Simatic S7, so I don't want to go that way yet. Hope to see a stylish UI solution for Logo, either with keypad or web-browser.

I didn´t consider this, because in most cases it´s too expensive if there is noEIB-bus existing yet. Do you have other EIB-components, which shall be included? The logger topic is possible, several threads here or in german forum under keywords "excel logo logger".

Bonk Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thanks Fux, I checked the german forum and found some solid information on data logging. There's no problems wit that issue anymore, thanks. I agree on what you said of EIB-component costs. I'm defining my home automation system, with multiple automation needs, mainly considering lightning control, electric supply control and some weekly+daily timer issues. What I really would like to find is a reasonably priced management console. Number one choice would be a web-based user interface to trigger Logo programs or at least a remote controller to do the same thing. For example Siemens Gamma looks very nice, but with all the EIB-stuff, the price will go through the roof. So maybe I have to stick with the original Logo control panel and stick it to same cabinet to hide it when not in use. Any ideas and help to achieve a cost effective and stylish system are highly appreciated!

LOGO!Barbarian Posts: 173 Rating: (95)	Hey Bonk! You again? Currently the only way to get a smart looking panel is with a LOGO! + EIB module onto an EIB bus and then a UP588 touch panel (Gamma). I was at the Light & Building fair in Frankfurt in April, and the Siemens people there said something about possibly having a connection on the LOGO! in future to other types of panels - all very secretive! Maybe only to Siemens industrial panels, but hey, even this would be an improvement! Right now, the benefits of including a LOGO! in an EIB network are huge - LOGO! Real Time Clock can be the master clock in an KNX network - The 10A & 5A relay outputs are cheaper to use than other load switches - Easiest way to get indsutry standard analog signals (0..10 V, 0..20 mA, 4..20 mA, Pt100 & now also Pt1000) values into KNX via the LOGO! which can also scale these values and do some mathematical manipulation Lets wait & see!!! Aaaaarrrggghhhh! ("Have a nice day!") & please rate this reply - thanks!
