William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1196)	jankoslayer Anyway, if my boss decide to buy PLCSIM v13 or 13.1, is this version compatible with TIA Portal V12.1 SP1 or do we need a higher version, V13 or something similar ?! Best regards, Janko I have no experience with TIA12, but going forward and backward between software versions causes all kinds of chaos. If you convert V12 files to V13 and staying with V13, then you should be okay. Buying or upgrading to V13 SP1 (now at update 4) will be a good idea.. though I have a naughty feeling V14 will be out within a year. I'll leave this question to the guys who can expertly knows. w

PLC Simulator for 1200 only works for newest hardware running TIA Portal V13 and above. To be sure (for 1200), I would urge firmware 4.1 and V13 SP1 and whatever current update is available. V12 will not simulate 1200 no matter what you do. Waste of time trying. Most will instead copy the project to a 2nd plc, and change it to an s7-1500 PLC and simulate it that way. However, the cost of the software for V12 pro to get the simulation is way more than just purchasing an s7-1200 and put it on your desk. jankoslayer Fair enough William! Thank you all guys, Janko

jankoslayer Posts: 160 Rating: (9)	So, the best case scenario would be, buying Tia Portal V13.1 with PLCSIM v13 ?! The problem is that I do not know if the PLCSIM V13 comes together with TIA PORTAL V13.1 or if it's Siemens products on it's own and requires separate license... Janko

Regards Christoph @Christoph: Thanks for your input and link. The link confuse me somewhat.. why does the title of the web link you gave us say "TRIAL" if it suppose to be "free" without license? May I assume that the TIA V13 license for Step7 covers the licensing of the software? @Janko: If you upgrade your TIA12 license to TIA13, the TIA13 license allows you to still use TIA12. In my case I sometimes use TIA11 and TIA13 at the same time. My TIA11 license was upgraded to TIA13.
