Dear nicer, you're not giving up easily, I like that I don't know your capabilities but you should stick to solutions you are able to handle. There is no use of providing you with other possibilites if you strugglelater to implement them.

1) Ok I would try your suggestion of trying the demo version even my software and hardware is older than the suggested compatibility. 2) Yap, I guess OPCs is another possibility, but it sound complicated to me and I'm sure it wouldn't be far cheaper if it would be cheaper at all. But one advantage would be it's not only the MODBUS TCP, but there will also be a range of other communication protocol that will be enabled. 3) I don't see replacing gateway would help, since the problem is the gateway driver itself. But I guess I should just see this as a remote option. 4) If 1 fails, this I guess sounds the best and simplest option to me (though I doubt for better integrators like you). I didn't know until now that there's already an included MODBUS TCP driver on the TIA Portal library for S7-1200, and since S7-1200 is cheaper than S7-300, that would be doubly better! I just wonder why there's a free library for the 1200 while there's not on the 300.. Anyways, thanks a lot for your continuous response! Hi nicer , On TCPdifferent terms are used compared to Serialbut meaning the same. Modbus-Serial Modbus-TCP Master=Client Slave= Server So your Schneider Gateway ison the serial side a Modbus-RTU Master to yourPower Meterswhich are the Modbus-RTU Slaves. At the same time the Gateway is at the TCP side a Modbus-TCP Server to yourS7-1200 whichwill be theModbus-TCP Client. So you need to configure a Modbus-TCP Client on your S7-1200. Best Regards. |

I see. So on MODBUS TCP terms, a Client (S7 CPU) would be having many Servers (e.g., gateways) as the Profibus Master have many Slaves? What about my inquiry about the programming/configuration on the gateway side (server)? Thanks for your continuous response!
