Hello, I have to the IP addresses of different PLCs including s7-400, s7-300, remote IO, and CP441. I tried to change them using ->Edit ethernet node->Browse -> set the new IP to the devices. so i didn't download a HW config into the PLC. this works for all devices so far. But my issue is related to the power failure. I noticed the CP of the s7-300 gets the old IP address after power failure. Now, I have some questions: 1- Do I need to always download a hardware configuration into the PLC when changing the IP address of the CP? 2- for the PLCs which have a memory card, do I need to do write to ROM after downloading the HW? what a about the PLCs which have no external memory card? Thanks in advance! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hi
1) when you utilize connections in your project which use ip address, you have to change ip in hw config or netpro and save an compile both and download them to cpu, other wise you lose your connections.( actually making change, compile and download from netpro is sufficient) In other cases like your current situation, you may not face any problem but may lose your changes after power cycle issues, any way i think the more important case is you dont have changes in your project source. 2) s7-300: in s7-300 cpu's with mmc card download option writes project to mmc. As i know "copy ram to rom" option saves actual db values from work memory to mmc, i dont think this works for ip address. S7-400: incase of integral load memory and external ram memory card download is your option. In case of external flash memory card download option makes changes in integral ram load memory.(which is not recomended) The prefered option is "download user program to memory card" which saves changes in flash memory, but needs to stop cpu and supports only entir download. For more information about memory concept please take a llok at this links. How can you obtain an overview of the memory concept of SIMATIC S7-300 CPUs and C7 devices? What is the effect of the STEP 7 function "Copy RAM to ROM"?
How can you write the program to the FLASH Memory Card when using a SIMATIC S7-400 CPU? Hope this helps Regards Hosein |
