Maybe binary read-out would be usefull, but anyway it is not a high level utility, but an ordinary woodden stick for sapper on the minefield. Cannot understand why Siemens takes so much money for just BIOS upload/download tool. If I am wrong please enlighten me. cheers, Zee

If I am wrong please enlighten me. cheers, Zee The need the mony to give us nice premiums... Please remember, a PG is not a low-cost notebook. If anyone like to do some binary read-out of BIOS, he have to pay. I got a lot of nice shareware programs, that also cost 20 - 50 Euro.

And that's why users should got something more than the others and specialized for its tool... Here even for creating partition or disk image have to pay (Simatic PC Image/Partition Creator), while there is a lot of much better utilities free of charge. Completely weird policy IMO (offtopic). Ok then. I think it is only reverse engineering of EC settings left to do. In case of spare time (maybe some day :D ) I will start it. Of course will inform you all what I digged out. So far will install external quiet fan to not let EC lock down. It is the most effective solution regarding price/performance ratio. cheers, Zee

gre_m Posts: 947 Rating: (45)	Hi, zeemens field pg contains at least two sensors: temperature of the motherboard (chassis) - typically thermistor, and temperature of the CPU processor - thermal diode integrated with the chip. Termorezistormozhet degrade due to misalignment of the measuring bridge, the actual sensor and give the wrong temperature. Degradation of the diode unrealistic, I guess. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate / look thermistor placement on the motherboard. What's the thermal contact. And forgot to say earlier, you have to blow the radiator or other heat pipes. That blow, use a vacuum cleaner suction on the ineffective

zeemens Experienced Member Joined: 4/13/2008 Last visit: 4/5/2021 Posts: 71 Rating: (9)	1. Thermistor sensor of motherboard must be connected to resistance or voltage measurement input. So it should come to EC, right? In that case everything could be changed with EC BIOS. 2. CPU Processor temperature would be seen in every software cooling software for every Pentium IV M CPU, but it is not! Check HWinfo32 or SpeedFan. The programmers did a lot of investigation but for Field PG M temperature it is not seen? Unbelievable. In my other notebook, Asus A3Vc I can see 5 temperatures, in FPGM only HDD temp, really! And I have exactly same processor, even serial numbers are similar. Degradation of thermistor can reach 5 to 10% maximum, but not more. 10 deg.C of difference should not be a problem for loopback control as temperature readings changes 15 deg.C within 3 seconds (!) up and down. Difference just could make longer "on state" of fan, but surely should switch off. Degradation of diode has even less effect. I don't think this is main problem. Maybe they are dirty, but I cleaned really everything. About additional blower: there is a lot of space to locate new vent line and huge and effective heatpipe to support original fan. Either overpressurizing or depresurizing compartment. There are many ways of doing it. I my personal opinion original fan should run on about 40% (silently) to keep CPU temp at 65 deg.C in any normal condition, because it is really effective system. The problem happen when chassis became so hot that you cannot touch lower Magnesium baseplate (>55 deg. C), then miracle happened. Thanks for suggestive brainstorming. In case of mass reply to this post I promise to publish an illustrated procedure how to exchange thermal paste, grease a fan axle and adjust a heatsink.
