No I just changed the value to give in, so I can give in in metres, multiply it by 100 for the calculations, but seems like the rest of the program isn't working well anymore

Indeed, I don't have another option I guess, otherways I can only go to 327 meters.

I do also favor an S7-1200 and a HMI, but the costs will be too high (this combination will have to be made around 40 times)

You are building a system to detect when a spool is running empty -- right? If I understand the requirement correctly, I would use Rockwell Automation's Micro810. It is a full functioning PLC; LAD, FBD and structured text programming is possible.

Their "CCW" programming software is for free. But the be warned about the LCD screen that connects to it: (1) Not easy to make a program for the LCD. (2) Bought as a separate item.

Ironically a cheap micro-processor board would be easy to use for your requirement.

I'm still working on the version with the counters, but I'm stuck again.

For the moment, I change the start value manually on the TDE (here: 120000 mm).

But I should want to change that value with two buttons (digital inputs). If i push one button, that value should increase with 10000 (10 m) and if I push the other it should increase with 100000 (100 m). 

Is there a possibility to do that?
