But interesting that you are not trying to use git itself but npm wants to use it.

Ok, git isn't installed. 

That's weird because when I wrote my post it was possible to do the command ./configure. 

Today with exactly the same commands it fails, because there is no configure script 

I am trying these commands right now: 

tar -zxf git-1.7.2.2.tar.gz
$ cd git-1.7.2.2
$ make prefix=/usr/local all
$ make prefix=/usr/local install

With these commans git is installed successfully and I was able to install your required nodes via npm.

Oh sorry, I forgot to adapt the version numbers. I did it with the 2.17.0 mentioned in my first post. 

So here is the complete command list: 

• curl -L https://github.com/git/git/archive/v2.17.0.tar.gz --output git-2.17.0.tar.gz
• tar -zxf git-2.17.0.tar.gz
• cd git-2.17.0
• make prefix=/usr/local all
• make prefix=/usr/local install
