In IOT2040 it's possible work with socketcan library? Someone know a compatible shield to work with can and IOT2040?

Split from CAN Bus/CAN open devices connection.

Socket-CAN is not a library, it's protocol stack in the kernel, including drivers, which exposes CAN via the standard socket API. That can be made working, but there is not preintegration on the IOT2000 example image.

OTW: You likely have to tune the kernel configuration for CAN support, including the right driver, and install can-utils. Thus, you will  need a customized image.

When using an Arduino shield, another topic will be how to make the Linux driver aware of the CAN device on that shield.That can be tricky, though it won't be infeasible as well. The safer option, though, would be to use a Socket-CAN supported mini-PCI or USB adapter.
