Hello amfirooz; Profibus International has been working on variations of the standard slave profiles, one of which is the Slave redundancy application profile. You will find a description of the profile in this document from profibus.com: http://www.profibus.com/pb/technology/description/ Search for Slave Redundancy in the document, you will find it in the middle of the page. However the profile has not been implemeented yet, at least for Simocode units. For the moment the only type of redundancy available (that we have located, other manufacturers may have newer offerings) with slaves built around a single Profibus-DPinterface are the Siemens Y-Link or third -party redundancy units like these: ABB Redundancy Link Module: Comsoft Profibus switch: http://www.comsoft.de/html/icpe/profibus/switch/prs.htm?_kk=profibus%20redundancy&_kt=9046a57f-a6e5-426c-ae5e-4696d63ca6a0&gclid=CParq4PsoZoCFUKK3godl08i9QThese units both require a pair of identical Profibus-DP masters attached to redundant CPUs, so I don't believe they would be the answer to your present application as you have explained it. But they do offer a high level of high-availability protection, so you might want to look at them and see if you need to modify your project. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
