50 Hz Motor, set up in VSD as 60Hz , What are the limitations

ExMurt Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have found that a Motor on site is rated at 50 Hz ( So is the supply ) and in the VSD Parametersthe Motor details is showing 60 Hz. We have 2 warnings at the moment. Current Limit & Torque Limit. Can some please give me an explanation what the limitations are now for that Motor & VSD. Is there a reduction in Torque & Current due to the 60 HZ Parameter setting as this will only ever run to 50HZ. A prompt reply would be greatly appreciated. Exmurt

It is a validated system and no changes can take place at the moment but Im wondering is there a limitation / reduction in motor Torque due to this wrong parameter set? Thanks for the reply. Can you please confirm my query above?

PISCEAN 2010 Diamond Expert Joined: 4/23/2010 Last visit: 12/31/2023 Posts: 8092 Rating: (878)	Yes it will effect on torque. Basic - Motor rated RPM depends upon rated frequency. Torque is inversly propotional to RPM. So torque available at 60Hz will be less than at 50 Hz.
