such a setup can be realized, when your 1200 acts as PROFINET device. For this you create a GSDML file based upon your data you want ot exchange (as your PROFINET I/O exchange areas). This you provide to your Control System vendor and be done with it.
 

1. In TIA you change the operating mode of the PROFINET interface (or enable it) to IO-device.
2. You define the data exchange areas in both direction (in or out) and size (in bytes) as well as define consitency (byte- wise, word- wise, etc …)
3. Then you create a GSDML file for this
4. Forward the GSDML file to your control system vendor
5. In your pogram you can read from and write to these exchange areas as regular I/O's

I kind of lost you there.

First off , there is no control system vendor. I am doing that.

The factory messages to me, the pump DI start/stops and the AI dosing rates.

I pass those on to the pumps and do a bunch of other managing tasks like monitoring level, monitoring for pump faults, leaks, toxic fumes, ...

I issue all necessary instructions and alarms with an HMI and send back alarms to the factory by the same profinet.

I drag dropped my 1200, extension card and HMI, and I have written (rather my LLM has) the SCL code. 

The profinet in/outs are declared, everything is set.

This is where I am stumped.
