There is an application which uses OPC Server SIMATEC.NET IE. The main function of this application is to retreive some data from the memory of PLC CPU and to store them into SQL Server database. The application is written in Borland Delphi and uses OPC Server. The application works successfully as a desktop application, but there is a need to have it in a Windows service form.

We have rewritten this application as a Windows service. In order that the application started to work it's nessesary that a user successfully logons into the system, so that OPC server can start and initialize. OPS Server initializes only after the successful user logon. After the user makes a logon it's possible to run this application as a service. After that the user can make a logoff but the service will continue working.

For better reliability it's needed that this service can start automatically without interactive user logon. The question is how to achieve that.

Also you can use macro scheduler utility for automatic login and after task performing it will log-off.
