I think about: -S7-300 CPU 315-2 PN/DP -PC with WinCC RT -SIMATIC NET IE S7-1613/2005 SW F. S7-,S5-COMP.-COMM. -SIMATIC NET, IE, CP 1613 PCI CARD or -S7-300 CPU 314 + SIMATIC NET, CP 343-1 COMMUNICATIONS PROCESSOR -PC with WinCC RT -SIMATIC NET IE S7-1613/2005 SW F. S7-,S5-COMP.-COMM. -SIMATIC NET, IE, CP 1613 PCI CARD Regards

So the cost optimized alternatives are: 1 - CPU + CP343-1(lean)+ WINCC or 2 - CPU PN + WINCC both works...

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi Gromit, I agree with Denilson, the CP1613 with the software is only necessary when you have to couple with more then 8 PLCs or when you want to transfera lot of data between the CP and more PLCs. Also with the CP1613 you may use several different protocols, but you didn't need that here. Beacuse you may use the PN-CPU parallel for PN-I/O it is usefull to buy that one, so you may also later use I/O on Profinet with the same port. [;)]

Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	Avery important difference between a normal and a "lean" CP343-1, one that does not appear in the FAQ is: The CP343-1 LEAN can only be a "server" for configured S7 connections, not "client". This means that the PLC with the CP343-1 LEAN cannot initiate an S7comms job. This means again that you cannot have two PLCs with CP343-1 LEAN modules exchange data with each other via configured S7 connections (PUT/GET). I think that it is still possible withSEND/RECIEVE jobs viaone of the other type ofconnections (TCP, ISO-on-TCP, UDP),this is aslightly more complicated than PUT/GET. This is not relevant forif WinCC can connect to S7-300 via a CP343-1 LEAN, but it is relevant for others that want to know the diffrenece between a "normal" CP343-1 and the LEAN model. I think that the FAQ should be updated with this info.
