Negatie temperature through thermocouple module (SM 1231)

dilip_123 Posts: 73 Rating: (0)	Dear all Mytemperature range is-200 degC to +50 degC from thermocouple. And for this iam using thermocouple module when it is configured as thermocouple it is displaying 253 counts that means 25.3 degCbut for negative temperature it is displaying -1200 counts that means -120 degC. I use a data type int when i divide -1200 with 10 then the result is 0. And when i configured it as volt it is displaying a different count suppose for -200 degC - (F6E4/-2332) +50 degC - (133/307) when i scale this then it is not working correctly it is displaying some other values. Please reply sir its urgent.

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/4/2024 Posts: 4351 Rating: (1452)	Hi, normaly the relationship between thermocouplertemperature and voltage is not linear. There are spetial modules for thermocoupler, once this non linear convertion need special care. Are you compared the voltage table of the termocoupler and the measured values?

dilip_123 Posts: 73 Rating: (0)	Dear Sir, Thanks for the reply, sir No Sir iam not comparing the values. My thermocouple which is connected in field is T type, which is directly connected to my s7 1200 thermocouple module. So is it possible to scale the values.

The termocoupler T has a 43 microV/Celsius coeficient at a error up 1 grad. However the continous operation temperature is >185C. My suggestion: 1 - measure the voltage with a voltimeter. 2 - measure the voltage with the module. 3 - compare it. If you read voltage in module, you can use SCALE block to convert it to the correct value (/tf/WW/en/Posts/31698#top ).
