321 DI Module

Ross_A Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Hi i have a question regarding the use of a 321 DI x 16 Module (6ES7 321-1BH02-0AA0). We are using one of these cards to monitor the status of an 'on button' and status of a limit switch on 8 different machines. So, 2 (on button, limit switch) x 8 = 16 inputs required, so one card needed. The inputs are 24VDC, but each machine has it's own 24VDC power supply. I've noticed whilst looking at the circuit diagram for the module that one 0V is connected and the rest are single 24VDC inputs. Can i link all of the 0V from the seperate (x8) power supplies together and have the single +24VDC input from the on button and limit switch going into the card? Someone in work told me that i might not be able to link the seperate PSU 0Vs together incase they do not use a common ground or something like that. Can anyone clarify on this area please? Ayman Elotaify Platinum Expert Joined: 5/28/2008 Last visit: 11/6/2024 Posts: 4516 Rating: (839)	Hello, In case you have several Inputs will be connected to the same module and these sensors fed from different power supplies, you can make them common ground but first of all be sure that all the power supplies are stablilized. and manufactured by a known manufacturer.
