I am using AI8 channel module 6ES7134-6JF00-0CA1 and I want to connect thermocouple sensors type K .

My question is can I CONNECTED with A0 Base Unit ,  OR   I must use A1 Base Unit to get a actual reading from thermocouple sensors .

of course you can use BaseUnit A0 with thermocouples! But as described in the other post, you can not use the "internal reference junction" for compensation (which is recommended).

So if you use the A0, you need another reference like an additional PT100.

I am a bit confused to be onest, because everything is described in the FAQ already posted in the old post. In the FAQ additional links to the other compensation methods are available.

What do you have to watch out for when using thermocouples if the expected value is not displayed?

So the bottom line is:

• thermocouples always need a reference junction
• If you use BaseUnit A0, you can not use the "internal reference junction"
• If you use BaseUnit A0, you need another reference junction, like an additional PT100 which needs to be configured accordingly (described in the manual or the links in the FAQ above)
• If you use BaseUnit A1, you can use the internal reference junction and do not have to take care of anything else (only if the thermocouple is not extended via "standard" copper wires in an external cabinet).
• If the thermocouple was extended via "standard copper wires" you can also use BaseUnit A0 and A1, but you can not use the internal reference junction, as you need a reference in the external cabinet. So in this case, you will also need an additional reference like an additional PT100 in the external cabinet.
