Try configuring your dream system using the online TIA Configuration Tool to see if you can get the various ET200SP / HA I/O and S7-1200 to get configured together - and the tool not ask what HA controller PLC will be used for your project.

Or, try configuring using TIA portal on your PG/PC.

If you can configure it, odds are they will function just fine as regular I/O modules coupled with an S7-1200 PLC.

Is it possible to run ET200SP HA I/O modules as regular standard I/O with the S7-1200? If so, how can the Standard_IO submodule be enabled in TIA Portal V16/V17? If the HA modules do not provide a Standard_IO submodule, does this mean they cannot be used with the S7-1200 at all?

Have you reviewed the available documentation?  For example:

as well as any applicable HSPs for your version of TIA Portal.

I also recommend contacting Siemens Support, your regional Siemens sales / application / support engineer(s), and local Siemens distributor for more specific solutions to your very specific set of project needs.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I can compile the project and download it to the PLC without any errors.
However, when I go online and check the device diagnostics, the interface module and the HA I/O modules show errors such as:

Parameter assignment error

Input/Output data not available

Error in lower-level component

So the download is successful, but the real hardware does not accept or activate the modules.My question is:

Can ET200SP HA modules that contain only HA_Primary / HA_Secondary submodules be used with an S7-1200 at all?
Or does the S7-1200 require HA modules that provide a Standard_IO submodule to operate as normal I/O?
