Fuse Burning

Kutty Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Hello, We are using 6RA70D DC Drive for Centrifuge application. IN that particular drive is running at rated speed, suddenly the incomming fuse is gone whilepower failure condition. This is four quadrant dc drive. Is there any parameterization or motor problem?

human Posts: 26 Rating: (3)	I'v read some manual about 6RA70 "Each time the line voltage is switched on (e.g. by means of a line contactor), the SIMOREG CCP needs approx. 3 secs until it is ready for use again because the commutation capacitors first have to be charged." I'm not an expert but if there is no power the capacitors can't be recharged to be ready.

RAKESH2 Posts: 60 Rating: (2)	Dear Kutty, Blowing of fuse is an uncontrolled phenomena in case of a power failure. Practically DC terminals of motor get shorted through the thyristor of same branches. You will have to provide a High speed DC breaker and may be a choke.This is the only device which can open before the fuse.A cordination study is required between fuses, thyristors and Breaker. This is a costly option.But if the power failures are quite often then you must go ahead with it. Regards Rakesh
