Normally in case of Siemens motors the current controller needn't to be optimized at all, only the speed controller. The speed controller can be optimized in the time or in the frequency range, in the time range e. g. the symmetrical optimum method could be used, in the frequency range you have to do the optimizing according to the amplitude and phase margin rules, known from the control theory. oyvindyr Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your help. I am a little familiar with the control theory from the university. And i can optimize the speed controller by optimizing the Kp and Tn values. But i am not familiar with speed and current setpoint filters. Are they very neccessary? As i can understand a low pass filter is required for the current filter and maybe a band-stop filter can be used by observing the frequency response(but which one?). Again i am not sure what to expect and when should i decide i need a band-stop filter. Another problem is that i get different frequency responces everytime i run the same measuring function. Peak values and the frequencies that peaks occur changes everytime. And that makes it hard to decide even if i know how to observe a Bode diagram. I know it is hard to explain those to someone who is not so experienced but all i need is some hints on where to start and what to look for. Thats why i have asked for a document about that instead of asking for help. I hope i could explain myself. Thanks for your help again.

Technology Team Platinum Expert Joined: 10/11/2006 Last visit: 10/30/2024 Posts: 5933 Rating: (815)	The filters are necessary if the mechanical system it requires (poles and zero points), the poles and zero points can be seen in the Bode diagram. Using the current setpoint filter the poles can be eliminated. You can use e. g. the speed controller frequency response in the measuring function. If you get different frequency responses every time, then there is something definitely wrong either with the settings of the measuring function or with somewhat else. It is important to have the right settings for the measuring function, normally the default setting already suits. If poles can be seen in the amplitude diagram, then they can be eliminated e. g. with a Band-stop filter, or in the higher frequency range with a PT2 low pass filter. Regards, TechTeam
