I have a project for packaging candy bars and there is a collator mechanism where the bars are gathered before pushing them into boxes.

The racetrack consists of two belt driven mechanism but each belt is an independent axis. There is 1 indexer per belt.

The racetrack is similar to that on the video at 0:18s the racetrack is shown closer.

In my opinion there should be some kind of motion control for the racetrack to work but it seems to me that there should be something more that a linear CAM.

What I have here is a begin position - a position where the indexer is being filled with bars, middle position where the full indexer moves and a robot pushes the bars in a box and an end position where the indexers move to after the robot sends a signal that the bars are pushed in the box.

My goal is to first understand the general application - relation between master and slave axis, main shaft clutch if needed, CAM mode etc.

We plan to use SINAMICS V90 with a S7-1500 CPU.

I would like to try to simulate this motion beforehand and to have a general idea how I will approach the real system.

What is the procedure to make the racetrack work? I do not expect and do not want to receive a program that will do the trick. I would like to get some advice and perhaps documentation related to similar motion task then I would figure out what I need for my application to create the required motion.
