.CSV.BAK file - causes and system alarm #?

john.kehoe@profle... Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	From time to time, WinCC logging to CSV file is generating a .CSV..BAK file. It appears to happen when the logging system has a problem writing to the log file (local hard drive). WinCC RunTime running on a PC HMI, and logging to a local hard disk. The only mention I can find anywhere is in WinCC help which says: *.BAK: If WinCC Flexible Runtime has determined a serious irregular problem in the file. For example, if logging to c:\logs\datalog.csv, it would rename the existing file toc:\logs\datalog.csv.bak and create a new filec:\logs\datalog.csv, and start logging afresh in this new file. There is no system alarm or error that we see, so we do not see there is a logging problem when it happens. We only see the problem when we see the BAK file when importing the data to make reports the next day. System alarms are enabled, so we see HMI System alarms like 110001 forChange to operating mode 'online', 140000, etc in our alarm log file. But no alarm recorded or displayed for this problem. I would like to create an action when this problem happens - but I do not see an alarm # to trigger it, What alarm number should be activated? I can of course create a script which scans the directory every 10 minutes for a .BAK file, but I am sure that there must be a simpler and more effective solution to notifying the operator and logging the issue in the Alarm log. Thanks in advance for your suggestions on how to detect this problem when it happens, and any solutions to causes that you have found. John

We found this after a software upgrade enabled the Checksum on the Data_log Historical Data. In our case the fail is created on an TP700 everytime that the WinCC restart. Thanks Jesus

Go to the Settings (Control Panel) of the HMI under theOP ICONGeneral tab is a place to check "Automatically repair file system errors on storage cards at system startup and card insertion time" Directly above are (2) buttons Save Registry Save Files After checking the automatic repair press both to retain the setting. Delete logs and reboot to generate good ones. Thanks J.
