The icon for the Trace function isn't shown when you select the 6RA24 drive. If Drive Monitor can't be used is there another program that can be used?

Gennadiy Posts: 29 Rating: (1)	I did not work with your Simoreg, but I know, if drive is able to store and show traces, after swithing inONLINE mode in Drive Monitorits button must be active. If not, this drive do not support trace function.

Fault_44 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have also recently re-commissioned some 6RA24 drives. And like you, I did not see the Drivemonitor "Trace" icon when I was online to the drive. The 6RA24 manual describes how to set up a trace, but is very vague on how to get the data out again! The method is very similar to the modern day masterdrives, but it would seem to be very much "1st generation", and less user friendly. It mentions a program called PCIN, which I have never used or heard of, to upread the trace data. The only way I could think of getting the data out would be to get the trace to record, then take an upread from the drive, and copy the trace parameter values to an Excel spreadsheet and do the graph in there. This would take about 10 minutes per recording though! Has anyone else got any experience of this?

The Keeper Advanced Member Joined: 4/6/2006 Last visit: 9/8/2025 Posts: 24 Rating: (2)	I have found out that Drivemonitor doesn't support the trace function in the 6RA24 drive, but you can use Simovis to access the trace function. Also Drivemonitor won't identify the version of 6RA24 when using the 'Setup up USS online connection' within Drivemonitor
