Hello experts,
I have a spare channel (296) wanna use it instead of another one (294), after I do the wiring, what should I do in the software using Simatic manager to enable the spare channel and make it as 294?

I want channel 296 to have all the configuration as 294.

Channel 294 is for reading the load in TON.

First of all, you have to check wiring. 

Have a look at the 'Code block' at the right side of module. Is it in the right position?

Change the hardware configuration, parameters of this module. (Download to CPU)

In the software you will have to 'Rewire' the input word.

you will need find calls for PIW294 and change address to PIW296

use cross-references to find where the said address is used in your program

 I generated the cross-reference, then i checked “per.input” box in the filter menu, then I found channels (PIW288-290-292-294-298-300-302), I didn’t find 296 (maybe because it’s a spare channel)

then I right-clicked on 294 to go to location, it took me to FB1 network 17, there i found PIW294, I renamed PIW294 to PIW296.

 I saved the file, then I regenerated the cross-reference, I found the channel like this: (PIW288-290-292-296-298-300-302), does this mean I have successfully enabled channel 296 and disable 294? Or are there more steps to follow?

After address changed.  You need to download FB1 to PLC.
