write data from HMI unified to Wincc 8.0 SQL database

Thenameinforum Member Joined: 9/7/2022 Last visit: 11/19/2025 Posts: 34 Rating: (0)	Hello, In my project I am using a MTP1200 unified comfort panels with panel image version 3 and Tia Portal v19 updtate 3. I am not using runtime simulation, but I have physical device. I have installed WinCC 8.0 update 6 on computer with Windows Server 2022 system. So, on this computer is installed WinCC SQL Server 2019. In my project I am supposed to write data from HMI to SQL server 2019 database installed in computer. How can I do this? Can it be done without installing ODBC Driver in my WINCC server ? What will happen to my WinCC sql server after installing ODBC Driver? I am not sure if my Archiving databases (from scada system) will not be damaged. Thanks for help

To access an SQL Server via ODBC, a corresponding driver must be installed on the client. No additional installation is required on the server. This means that your current databases are not affected by the installation. However, providing access to another client may allow the client - your Unified Panel - to modify the data in the database, which can of course lead to possible data loss. Kind regards Stefan
