We are currently using an existing system comprising the following components:

• PLC CPU: Siemens S7-300 CPU 313C-2DP
• Software: Simatic Manager v5.5 and WinCC Flexible 2008
• Operating System: Windows 7 (32-bit)
• Communication Interface: MPI card

The system is operating properly with the current MPI communication setup. However, we now require an additional MPI communication card to keep as a spare for future use. Kindly suggest a compatible MPI communication card that is suitable for our existing setup. Old and new PC, kindly confirm in which of these PC cabinets the MPI card will be supported.

do you need a communcatino processor for the Engineering PC to get online and load the PLC and the HMI? or do you use a communication processor on the S7300 to communicate with other deviced 

If you need one for accessing MPI/DP devices from PC and it should be futureproove then I would go with a CP5711 (its a bit more expensive but you will not have problems with any devices)

PC Adapter USB(A2) is OK for PLC but with HMI devices we have no good experience in the past and also its not released with all Panels that can do MPI/DP

 The old USB Adapter USB only works when connected to a PLC (that will give the adapter operating power through the D9 connector. The old PC Adapter doesn't work with Win10 and never.

The new PS Adapter USB A2 gets the operating power from the PC's USB port, and that enables it to be used with drives and HMI's connected directly to the device.
